The DearsGang Of Losers
Gang Of Losers is the sound of a band trying very hard to live up to the expectations a growing scene has put upon them. All the signature nuances that Dears fans have come to expect from them are here, they?re just leaner. The songwriting is still strong, yet where in previous efforts certain songs would have been stretched out and labored for effect, they now are glossed over in order to make for a tighter (read: more radio friendly) sound. The result is an album that reflects some traits of both their past efforts yet has lost a lot of the soul which had garnered The Dears such devoted fans in the first place. With the exception of a few songs, notably ?You and I Are A Gang of Losers? which is easily the band?s most addictive song to date, most of the new material is delivered in a manner which shows promise, yet lacks the finesse to make Gang Of Losers the album it could have been.
